Content Management System
With a Content management system or CMS, you can change the content of your site, add images, or even add pages on your own without having to be a website designer.
Without a CMS you’re handcuffed to a website designer whenever you need to update or change your site.
Not only is this an extra cost, and sometimes expensive, but it can also be a nightmare when you need to quickly change something, and you will need to wait for your website designer to make the updates.
Often the biggest complaint of website owners is not able to make easy changes on their site themselves down the track.
Also, some CMS systems allow you to move modules that hold the content around the page, others you can only change the text and images.
Ask what functionality is available with the proposed website.
Take a look at the CMS section of the platform the web designer uses.. Get them to show you what is involved in making simple changes like adding text and images.
If the process to make changes looks challenging to learn, you might consider a different web designer or a different website platform or both.
Because having a website that is difficult to make changes will only frustrate you sooner than later
If you have many items to list in your online store via the CMS, make sure you get trained in the process of uploading new products and its explained to you in detail. Often this is done using detailed CSV spreadsheets to bulk upload them, so not for the faint-hearted.
