Who will supply the domain name and what will it be?
Your domain name is something you'll have to live with for a long time so choose the domain name of your website carefully
Your domain name is your digital address that people will use to access your website. You need one so that people can find you and be easily connected to your site.
You can purchase a domain name through your website designer or third parties such as GoDaddy or Crazy Domains.
If you don't have a domain name for your site, that’s the www.yourwebsiteaddress; you will need one.
Try to use a top level domain name for instance in Australia choose a domain ending in .com.au as the first preference, or a .org if you are a non-profit, and only select a .net or lower if you absolutely have to.
Top level domains are more trusted by people searching online and will get more click-throughs when searchers see your website in Google search results.
Most businesses will use their business name on the domain name, but you can also use a domain name that describes your business, e.g. (Katoomba Florist) instead of ‘Botanical Art’ for instance
Buying a domain through a third party is a good option as it’s much more versatile in the long run should you decide to change website designers.
The cost of a .com.au domain should be between $15 - 50 for a two year period.
If it is more than this, you should shop around.
If the website designer registered a domain name for you, make sure they add you as a new account, so you own your domain name.
